I am a MCA student at G.H. Raisoni Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur. First of all, let me tell you, I never knew anything about Capgemini before I started preparing for it. If you are appearing for Capgemini campus, then I would suggest you to prepare really well, because getting into this company will be a booster for your career.
I think you should know the following about Capgemini:
1. Capgemini is a Europe multinational (unlike indian borne MNCs like Infosys, Wipro and all), spread in 38 countries around the globe.
2. Its a 13.8 billion $ company. Companies like infosys,satyam,wipro are not even half of Capgemini.(TCS being 7.4 bn$)
3. Its called the gurus of consulting .
4. It stands 5th the Indian IT company rankings 2008.
5. It stands 4th in the best IT consulting services company in the recent world rankings by Forbes.
6. Capgemini is a very good company for the freshers, unlike other IT firms ,Capgemini stands the last when it comes to irregular firings. Capgemini came for a

Campus recruitment drive on Jul 29th, 2008. It was a closed campus, comprising of two colleges (G.H. Raisoni and PCEA). Around 500 (BE + MCA) students appeared for the campus.
The criteria was:
1. For BE: 60% in BE till date & no active backlogs.
2. For MCA: 60% in MCA till date & no active backlogs.
We were asked to report at 8:30am and to our surprise, the recruiters appeared sharp at 8:30 am (unlike other company people who are generally 3 or more hrs late). Then started the selection procedure.

1) Presentation:
All the appearing students were called in a hall to see a power point presentation about the company. It was really interesting. We were formally introduced to the HR and her team. Its always better to note important points form the presentation since it may be asked in the interview. We were told about the package that we were going to get. It was 3 lakh CTC per annum. After the presentation, we were asked to move in rooms for aptitude test.

2) Aptitude Test:
Aptitude test was on paper and an objective type. The paper was divided into two sections: (i) Quantitative 25 questions. (ii) Analytical 25 questions. We were given 1hr to solve the paper. There was a sectional cut-off of 10 marks (it was told in advance) and there was a provision of negative marking (0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer). I went for around 15 questions from both the sections and managed to clear the aptitude test. Please note that there were 3 sets of question papers and they contained very few common questions. But a lot of questions (around 8-10) in each set were repeated questions (questions that had been asked in earlier campus interviews by Capgemini). I think this helps a lot.
So, I will suggest you to mug up all the questions by heart that I am giving with their answers.

None of the above I would suggest you to go through as many Capgemini placement papers as possible. The questions are very simple. Even if you are not very good at aptitude, you can make it. Just be cool and imply your brain. After the aptitude test, the results were displayed after around 2 hrs. 129 candidates managed to clear the aptitude test and were called for GD session.
3) Group Discussion:
All the selected candidates were divided into 13 groups of 10 students each.
The GD was being conducted simultaneously in 3 rooms. Our group got the topic "Should GDs be included in selection procedures?" Clearing the GD round is easy. The coordinators were really very friendly and made all the candidates relaxed. In GD, you will have to show your participation. Do open up your mouth, but at the same time, see to it that you are not disrupting others. Dont loose confidence even if you are not a very good speaker. Just give strong points, thisz what matters the most. After about 1hr the list of candidates who had cleared the GD was displayed and they were asked to report in a room for further proceedings. 60 candidates cleared the GD round.
4) Personal Interview:
There were 3 interview panels consisting of 2 members each. The interviews were going on simultaneously. I was the third one to be called.

Me:
 Good evening Sir, Ma'am.
Interviewers: GE, please sit. How was ur day?

Me:
Great. We had pretty good time, selection procedure was punctal.

Int:
But the guy before you was saying that he is too much tired and having head ache..?

Me:
It was a good day for me Sir, I am used to such schedule. (Actually they were testing if the candidate can spend long working hrs or not. Please be very positive in your answers.)

Int:
 How was the aptitude test.

Me:
It was good. Not very tough.

Iv:
Is it so because you guys got a lot of chance to cheat and ask answers from your friends?

Me:
No Sir, I didnt seek anybody else's help and did all my paper of my own. If you wish, I am ready to solve it all again in front of you.

Int:
(very happy) Very Good. I like your confidence. (It was a direct fire. Keep cool under such conditions and try to give good and positive answers that show your confidence against such questions.) Then I was asked technical questions: whats printf, scanf in C? Was asked to write a program that sorts both a character array as well as an integer array. (I wrote the logic) What is type casting? Memory taken by diff data-types etc. Being a MCA candidate, although I was well prepered for DBMS, Operating System, Data Structures questions, I was seldomly asked about them. Then the lady asked me a question from the aptitude paper and asked me to solve it (she didnt give me the full data).
I told her I need more data to solve it. She insisted that it can be solved with that much data only but I knew it wasnt so, so I kept sticking to my point. Then she asked me a couple of puzzles. I dont know how I performed, but I think they see your approach to solving the problem. Further, the gentleman asked me about my hobbies, my family etc.
We discussed arout 2-3 minutes about my father's work (an armyman). Finally, they asked me for my CV, a photograph, photo-copies of all my marksheets from Std 10th till MCA. Me: It was a very great time with you Sir. Iv: Same here Amit. Good Luck. My interview ran for about 30 minutes. Be cool and confident during the interview. If you are confident and have good communication skills, there are strong chances that you may be selected.
All the interviews were over by 10:15pm and we waited very eagerly for the results. We were asked to assemble in a room where the HR, Preety Ma'am came on the stage to announce the name of the selected candidates. There was a huge round of aplause for ever name being announced. To my good luck, I was also one of the selected guys. A total of 41 candidates were selected. We were then asked to maintain our aggregate (in BE or MCA) to a 60% at the time of joining failing which, we wont be accepted.

This is omkar from D.M.C.E ,airoli, navi Mumbai. Cap Gemini visited our college on 4th September 2008.well let me tell u about myself, before CAPGEMINI I cleared 5 aptitude test ,1 GD ,4 TR and 3 HR and then too I was not selected. So u can think me as an experience candidate for placement) but I think my destiny was in cap Gemini . the overall procedure for the placement was as follows:-

The online aptitude test consist of 2 sections of 50 questions.

1) Quantitative (1 to 25)
2) Logical (26 to 50).
Time limit:-60 min.

There was no negative marking. There was sectional cutoff.

Quantities section : consist of following question
*) how many prime numbers r between 1 to 100? (ans :-25 (1 is not prime))
*)a problem on speed ,distance, time like superman flies at 25mph, spiderman flies at15mph and phantom take 2 hrs to fly from NY to DC. If speed of spiderman is twice that of phantom .and distance between NY to DC is same as distance between NY to Washington (I don’t remember it well) there where couple of question like
*) what is the distance between NY and DC?
*) how long will superman take to travel from dc to Washington and back?
*) I donno remember the 3rd ?
*)the largest no between (7)-(2),(3)+(4),2*(2),6+(2)(X)=square root of X
*)Arrange some numbers in descending order?

I will tell u guys if u want to crack quantitative section u have to do following section well ;-\
1-numbers (5 question)
2-average(2)
3-speed ,distance(5)
4-simple compound interest(2)
5-profit and loss(3)
6-progression (2)

Logical section : consist of following question;-
*)a problem on if it rains on Wednesday it will rain on Friday and so on and 5 questions based on the data (the question on the data were scattered all around the paper i.e 1st question was no 26,2nd was no 30,3rd was 32,4th was 36,and 5th was 38) (easy)
*)a problem on playground i.e A,B,C,D want to play on ground P,Q,R,S.A plays on p and Q. B on Q & R. C on Q and S.5 question where asked on the data (easy)
*)a 5 question on relation i.e A is D mom. B is E mom. F is C son. B is G aunt(not sure).

And some more data was given Let me tell u friends the logical question was much easy than quantitative .so first attempt logical and then quantitative. don’t go for solving all question of logical solve 15 questions of logical then go for quantitative since quantitative is difficult and there was sectional cut off. Keep last 5 minutes for guessing the answers of the remaining question.

In our college out of 80, 20 was selected for interview (since less student qualified, they cancelled the GD section and directly took the interview)

Well there were 2 interviews (TR and HR) My HR interview went like this

Interview :
I –good evening sir.
Interviewer –good evening omkar .how was u r day?
I – fine sir ?
Interviewer:-well omkar tell me about you.
I – (this is the main part. mention u r name ,birth date , birth place, academic’s 10th ,12th B.E ,the order of mentioning should be ascending, don’t directly start from u r B.E ,also mention u r hobbies, which u pursued in 10 ,12 and B.E ,also mention achievement if any)
Interviewer-well does u have any idea about DBMS (if u r comp or IT u should know what it is?)
I – yes.
Interviewer – can u develop database relation schema for a movie theatre (since I mention my hobby as WATCHING MOVIES)
I – I did as he told; he in fact helped me to develop the database.
Interviewer – what do u mean by normalization?
I – explained with an example and also told about 1NF, 2NF, 3NF etc
Interviewer - any liking for programming languages?
I – ‘C’ programming language.
Interviewer – he asked me to write a program (only logic, no emphasis on syntax) for Fibonacci series (really a piece of cake)
Interviewer – asked me about my project work for current year?
I – explained about my project in detailed (he was really impressed by my presentation of project).
Interviewer – asked question about my project?
Interviewer – do u have any question?
I – sir, can u give me details of the bond we have to sign while joining?
Interviewer – explained?
Interviewer – well omkar thank u?

My HR went like this:-
Interviewer:-u may sit omkar.
I – thank u sir.
Interviewer – tell me about u r self?
I – same as above
Interviewer – what about u r family background?
I – told him.
Interviewer- which technology r u aiming for career and why?
I – sir, JAVA becoz it’s an ever expanding, branching language, like JSP, JAVA net beans, JAKARTA STRUTS etc (added something about the features about JAVA)
Interviewer – where do u see u r self 5 years from now?
I – leading a group of 5-10 people in an I.T firm probably a project leader.
Interviewer - do u know any recent news about the booming IT sector? (since I mentioned my hobby as newspaper reading)

The most easy section is the verbal section. Just prepare Barrons well. One or the other unsolved test papers of Barron's are replicated  as it is in the papers...that means antonyms, synonyms, sentence correction ..  fill in the blanks words like gaffe, contentious, altrustic, belligerent....  Quantative is so so ..i mean 60 % is easy and rest is a bit tough...go thru the  geometric theorms, formulas, quadriatic and linera section well.

Analytical is the most tricker one..it's very tempting bcoz 1 paragraph may fetch you 4 correct answers...puzzles..all puzzles like 1 speaks french b speaks chinesse and english..c speaks french and ... so arrange them in a comfortable position so that they can converse with each other...other question's like a heavier then b, m heavier then i and j , k lighter then d who is d heaviest ?? so on..... 15 question's are easy but very time consuming and rest questions although seem to be easy but try avoiding to attempt all questions coz that will eat up all your time unless you are very good at analytical.....

Q7. (a) Which letter is represented by the number “3”

Ans : Solution:-

3 6 5 1

(+) D E A N

-----------------------------------

S L I D E

It is given in the question that each of 7 digits 1,2,3,4,5, 6 & 9 is represented by a. Different letter in the above problem it is clear that 3+D+carry [If any] is equal to SL. But as it is clear that highest sum of there given no. can be (9+6+1)=16 so S = 1

Now it is also clear that D is either 6 or 9 but D cannot be 6, because in that case L, is equal to 0, which is not possible.

So D = 9
Now from that it is clear that L Letter is either 2 or 3 & A=4, It is also clear that E cannot be equal to 5,4,3,2,1

So E=6

Now we can help of above conclusions.

Total questions 80
Total time 90 min's
NO UPPER CUT OFF

They say that there is no sectional cut off but still they have minimum 5 5 8 questions..

Ans. to question no.
